BASC: Improve your shooting with BASC

Friday, 12 August 2011 12:41 PM

BASC will host three ‘improve your shooting days’ in September. The days are designed to help people to improve their success in the field using the most advanced techniques and state-of-the-art equipment.

The days will be held at the Mid Wales Shooting Centre, near Caersws, on 15th September; at Euroguns, near Doncaster, on 20th September and at Trochry in Perthshire on 22nd September.

The courses will begin with an introductory session highlighting the 15 factors that lead to poor success in the field. Participants will then take part in a series of activities to illustrate these, including shooting skill, range-judging and patterning.
The afternoon sessions will focus on improving performance in the field. Participants will analyse their shotgun patterns and the ballistic requirements needed to humanely kill their quarry. BASC-accredited shotgun coaches will spend two hours with each group to improve their shooting ability and use the state-of-the-art ST-2 Shooting Simulator.

Dr Peter Marshall, BASC’s director of shooting standards, said: “These courses have proved extremely popular in the past. The aim is that people enjoy themselves and learn a lot about their own shooting.”

Places on the courses are limited and will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis. The course will cost £65 for BASC members and £100 for non-members, which includes the cost of clay targets, cartridges, lunch and refreshments. Please call BASC’s shooting standards department on 01244 573018 to book places.
