BASC at the CLA Game Fair 2012

Tuesday, 3 July 2012 2:12 PM

The UK’s largest shooting organisation, the British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC), will have a major presence at this year’s CLA Game Fair.

The game fair will be held at Belvoir Castle, Grantham, Leicestershire, on July 20th, 21st and 22nd.

BASC will have a stand where expert staff will be on hand to answer questions. Sections of the stand will focus on firearms, gamekeeping, game shooting and wildfowling. There will also be a deer management section sponsored by BushWear, which will provide a trophy measuring service.

BASC’s membership team will be available to recruit new members and renew existing memberships and the Spalding Wildfowlers Association will host a display featuring vintage wildfowling pieces and punt guns. Pigeon expert and countryman Chris Green will also be on the BASC stand.

Game cookery demonstrations by chefs Jose Souto and Ralph Skripek will take place on all three days as part of BASC’s Taste of Game campaign.

Former Coronation Street star Charlie Lawson will officially launch the Wildlife Habitat Trust’s (WHT) 2012 Wildlife Habitat Conservation Stamp.

The stamp features artwork entitled “Teal on the Medway” by Simon Trinder. The stamp will be launched on Friday 20th July at 11.30am in the WHT area of the BASC stand. Visitors to the WHT stand will have the opportunity to purchase stamps, badges and limited edition prints. Money raised will go to WHT funds.

An art exhibition will also be on the BASC stand providing the opportunity for visitors to enjoy and purchase original artwork by Simon Trinder and Julian Novorol. Julian has designed previous WHT stamps.

Honda will also be on the stand to display their new most powerful ATV, the TRX500FM.

BASC will be running a shotgun coaching line where our coaching team, sponsored by Eley Hawk, Browning and Promatic, will offer expert tuition and advice. Game fair visitors can try shooting for the first time or sharpen up their skills. Lessons include gun fit and safety instruction with a BASC-accredited coach.

There will also be gundog scurries open to all sponsored by Chudleys dog food.

BASC’s Steve Bloomfield said: “The CLA Game Fair promises once again to be one of the highlights of the summer. BASC staff will be there to offer advice and information, to meet members and have the opportunity to talk to those considering joining. We are delighted that Charlie Lawson will launch this year's WHT Wildlife Habitat Conservation Stamp."
