Avenues Group News

Thursday, 30 April 2009 12:00 AM

It is an exciting time at Avenues as the first changes begin working towards forming Avenues into a group of organisations. These organisations will help us to focus on delivering particular services within Avenues. We are hoping that the new structure will improve the delivery of our services as it allows staff and managers to concentrate on particular types of services and allow us to make quicker and more informed decisions.

Steve James, Group Chief Executive, said "As an important part of this process we are looking to appoint Chief Executives of each organisation to lead them in to the future".

Steve also said that in a new period, where the person who wants the service is in control, we need to offer services on a detailed personal understanding of people's individual needs. This new structure, with smaller organisations delivering services, will help this happen. It will help us prepare for what will be a challenging next few years.

Jayne Kilgallen was recently appointed as the Deputy Group Chief Executive of Avenues. This is a new and exciting role that brings together the 'checking how well services are being run' with the starting up of new services. Jayne manages the Service Improvement and Development Team which is based at our head office in Sidcup. She will also work closely with Steve to support the Chief Executives of the new group organisations.

The Avenues Trust Group Ltd employs over 1000 staff to support over 800 people in London, Cambridge and the south east. Our group head office is based in Sidcup, Kent. Our subsidiary companies include:

The Avenues Trust Community Support Services Ltd (ATCSS) is also based at our group head office.

At ATCSS we offer community and home-based support to over 600 people with mental health issues, learning disabilities or physical disabilities. We also provide support services for young people with learning disabilities and autism.

The Avenues Trust Support Services (ATSS) is based at our West Kent office in Underriver, near Tonbridge, Kent.

At ATSS we support over 200 people in small, registered care homes, providing personalised, 24-hour support services to people with complex needs, including challenging behaviour and profound and multiple learning disabilities. We also run a registered nursing home for people who need long-term support with their mental health.

Southwark Homecare Ltd (SHC) is based at our Rye Lane office in Peckham, SE15. Lesley Knight is the Chief Executive of Southwark Homecare.

At SHC we support over 350 people, providing a home care service, mainly for elderly people.
