Action Alert: Respond to the Home Office consultation on animal testing
The UK Government is planning a new law on animal experiments - the biggest overhaul for 25 years - as it adopts the new European Directive on animal experiments.
Although the NAVS is opposed to all animal experiments and think they must be replaced with non-animal methods, we accept that the restrictions that we’ve won in the UK are actually better than many countries in Europe, some with no limitations at all.
There is a concern that the UK Government could use this new Directive to weaken the restrictions on animal use. We don’t want the regulations in the UK watered down. We want them tightened up and we want a phase-out of animal experiments.
The Government is conducting a public consultation, where they are asking people to tell them what they think is important.
That is where you come in. The animals need YOUR help. Now.
