About Us

Victim Support London (VSL) is the Association of London Victim Support Schemes and acts as a voice of Victim Support Schemes and Witness Services across the capital. It was established in 1988 by the individual London Victim Support charities, and has recently become the Executive Management Body for London, responsible for ensuring consistent, high quality services and the effective use of pan-London resources. VSL also provides a wide range of services relating to training, representation, research and information dissemination, and advocacy on behalf of victims and witnesses. VSL is a registered charity, governed by a Board of Trustees.

Training and Facilitation
  • Core learning for new volunteers in both community-based and witness services
  • Specialist crime training for experienced staff and volunteers
  • Specialist crime forums to allow the sharing of good practice
  • Training for staff in other criminal justice agencies and local community groups

  • Research and provide briefings on new legislation and other relevant issues

Representation and Advocacy
  • Membership of all pan-London criminal justice bodies
  • Ensuring victim and witness issues are kept high on the agenda of all relevant agencies
  • Representing the rights of victims and witnesses at conferences, seminars and other events

Fundraising
  • Providing fundraising advice and support
  • Raising funds to ensure the services of VSL are free and accessible
  • Managing London-wide fundraising opportunities and events

Volunteer Recruitment
  • London-wide activities to recruit volunteers to borough-based services

Information and Communications Technology
  • Support to staff within the Schemes and Witness Services on ICT issues
  • Develop and implement websites and other technologies
