Research
The NAPF produces regular research reports and other policy papers.
Our Annual Survey charts the latest trends in UK pension provision and pension fund investment, while our latest Shareholder Engagement Survey outlines how large pension funds are engaging with the companies in which they invest.
In 2007 the NAPF reviewed the Myners Principles on behalf of HM Treasury. In Institutional Investment in the UK Six Years On, we examine the progress that has been made since 2001 and look at how changes to the environment in which pension funds are operating affect these Principles.
All Change!, also published in 2007, looks at the wide variety of ways on which employers have modified the pensions on offer to employees. Drawing on seven case studies, it concludes that many of the employers who have sought to reduce pension costs and the risks to which they are exposed have nonetheless maintained a commitment to providing good quality pensions.
In 2006, we published two research reports examining how the Government’s proposals for pension reform might affect existing workplace schemes. Quantity vs Quality? collates the evidence on how automatic enrolment raises participation in pension schemes and asks what its mandatory use will mean for employers providing high contributions on a voluntary basis. More Savers, More Saving? argues that pension reform can truly be judged a success only if these employers can be persuaded to automatically enrol people at today’s contribution rates.
NAPF members receive fortnightly updates on the latest pensions research from NAPF and other organisations through PolicyWatch and key facts about UK pensions are published on our website.
