Intellect

Key Campaigns

Intellect aims to make significant improvements to the environment in which its members do business.

The Intellect Board recognises that this requires special focus on a limited number of major issues. Our campaigns offer this focus, as they are all measured against very specific objectives - to achieve clear results with benefits for members’ businesses within an acceptable time frame.

The following campaigns form the pinnacle of a pyramid of 150 programmes and issues that Intellect is currently pursuing on its members' behalf. The lead campaign, Technology - Enabling the UK Knowledge Driven Economy, provides the overall framework.

Knowledge Driven Economy
To compete within the world market the UK must become a knowledge driven economy, and successfully exploit knowledge for wealth creation across all industries and sectors.

Better Deal for SMEs and the Public Sector
The ICT SME segment needs demand side programmes if it is to match the vibrancy of the US segment.

This campaign will seek to ensure that 10% of public sector ICT procurement should be sourced from SMEs.

Broader-band Wireless Spectrum
Intellect will work with the government and Ofcom to identify the appropriate bandwidth (5Mbits/s +) and spectrum for Broader-band Wireless, to satisfy the needs of new services.

An Innovative Defence Environment in the UK
To work with stakeholders to create a UK Defence environment that encourages innovation from the electronics and software industries.

Delivering IT to the Public Sector
Successful use of IT systems underpins public service reform. We are working collaboratively on a long-term programme with Government to improve programme and project success rates.

Ensuring a Successful DTV Switchover in the UK
A clear, feasible and ultimately successful DTV switchover process in the UK will bring considerable benefit to both the economy and individuals.

UK Electronics Manufacturing
Retaining high-skill jobs in the UK electronics industry and ensuring the sector remains a viable part of the UK economy.
