The FDA is the trade union and professional body for Britain's senior public servants. Our 17,000-plus members include policy advisers and senior managers, tax inspectors, economists and statisticians, government lawyers, crown prosecutors, diplomats, schools inspectors and accountants. A joint venture between the FDA and Unison established in 2005 - Managers in Partnership - represents senior NHS managers.

The FDA represents its members in negotiations with management in more than 100 government departments, agencies and public bodies. We also look after their professional and employment interests, and act as a powerful voice for public services and the people who work in them.
