Carbon Offsetting
We all release CO2 into the atmosphere through various activities such as driving, flying, and heating our home. CO2 emissions damage the atmosphere and are responsible for climate change. However there is a way to balance out the amount of CO2 that you produce.
What you can do
You can reduce your impact on global warming by using less fuel and taking simple measures to be more energy efficient. For example, if you double glaze your windows you will use less energy to heat your home, save your self money and release fewer damaging CO2 emissions. You can go one step further and offset your remaining CO2 emissions.
By contributing to our projects we will offset the amount of CO2 emissions you produce. We strongly recommend that you do your best to be more energy efficient and reduce your CO2 emissions as much as you can.
Green Energy
You can also switch to a 100% renewable energy supplier. By purchasing green electricity you can make a significant contribution to the reduction of emissions from your home, without changing your lifestyle. We recommend, Good Energy, which is the only supplier of 100% renewable energy. It sources its electricity from renewable generators and, over 12 months, for every unit of electricity supplied to a customer, Good Energy will buy a unit of electricity from a renewable generator. Climate projects
The ETA work in partnership with Climate Care on projects in third world countries. With your help we will distribute energy saving bulbs to small communities in the developing world, and/or provide funding for renewable energy. Using residual funds we restore rainforests using progressive social inclusion techniques. Our projects aim to neutralize your CO2 emissions. We only choose projects that are permanent and would not happen if we did not fund them.
You can choose a number of climate-neutral offsets, depending on your lifestyle.
How much does it cost?
| Service | Description | Amount (CO2) | Price (£) |
|---|
| Climate-neutral driving | Offsets emissions from 1,000 miles | 350kg | £2.75 |
| Climate-neutral home | Offsets emissions from average annual gas and electricity use | 5t | £40 |
| Climate-neutral flying | Offsets emissions from 1 hour in airplane | 125kg | £1 |
| Climate-neutral citizen | Offsets average British citizen’s annual emission | 11.3t | £90 |
What to do next
Choose which climate-neutral policies you wish to purchase from the list above
For driving and flying policies you need to work out how much you need to offset, for example how many miles do you drive per year or how many hours do you spend flying per year?
You will receive a certificate for all purchase over £5
