Sustainable Development Principles and Goals

In July 2004, delivering on a public commitment made in 2003, the CIA published its "Guiding principles for sustainable business practice" and integrated "Goals for sustainable development" for the chemical industry, which apply to all CIA members.

These include goals for productivity, social diversity, employability of staff, energy efficiency, water use and waste production, as well as occupational health and safety and a number of sub-goals that, together, make up a bold commitment to reduce the chemical industry's environmental burden.
