Events and Awards
Throughout the year, the CIOB takes part in or hosts a number of industry events across the UK.
Construction Manager of the Year
The Construction Manager of the Year Awards (CMYA) is one of the most important and popular events in the construction industry’s calendar. Outstanding construction professionals are acknowledged and rewarded for their success throughout the year in a number of categories.
The overall winner this year (2006) was Jeremy Williams for his outstanding work on leading the team that built the Welsh Assembly Building in Cardiff.
The booking form for next years’ nominations is now available online at

Bidding for Gold
Bidding for Gold provides support and training to SMEs in the construction and built environment sector. This is to help them form flexible working groups to bid for construction projects that they would otherwise be unable to tender for as a single organisation. The project runs from July 2006 to June 2008.
The Bidding for Gold launch on Wednesday 15 November at CIOB headquarters will bring a number of key clients and developers together with SMEs within the South East Construction and Built Environment sector who want to explore opportunities together.

Scholarships and Student Events
Every year, the CIOB hosts its Student Challenge event, with teams from across the country competing in regional heats to secure a place in the final held at the CIOB’s headquarters in Ascot.
Students are also invited to enter the annual Innovation and Research awards, while many are also eligible for one of a range of CIOB scholarships.
