Winning gold for inclusion: Olympic briefing
The 2012 Olympics promises to bring benefits to Londoners. The Olympic Delivery Authority’s Race Equality Scheme identifies clear aims to be implemented that could lead to a positive change for London’s black and minority ethnic community (particularly within the 5 host boroughs). This policy briefing examines those aims and gives recommendations to the ODA on how the promise for London and its BME community can indeed become a reality.
Policy Briefing on BME Providers and the Criminal Justice System
The BME prison population is growing and the funding for BME providers supporting BME offenders is shrinking. Commissioning will now be the major source of income for providers, yet there is concern that the BME voluntary and community sector will not be able to withstand the competitive nature of tendering against larger providers. This policy briefing explains why and what can be done to ensure that small BME providers remain relevant and necessary within such an important field of the prison and probation services.
BAME London Employment and Skills Providers Respond: London Employment and Skills Draft Strategy
On January 14th 2008, 7 BAME providers came together with BTEG to issue a response to the London Employment and Skills Draft Strategy. A strategy which will set the framework for tackling the employment and skills challenges unique to London. Click here to read the response.
BTEG National Conference
On Friday 9th November 2007, in partnership with Capacitybuilders and the six national hubs, BTEG held a national conference in London. The conference theme Focusing on the Frontline highlighted the current climate of policy changes which has impacted on the way the voluntary and community sector is both viewed and funded by central and local government.
