How Do We Work
In addition to advising government departments BTEG is developing three centres of activity which focus on education, regeneration and strengthening the BME third sector through providing technical assistance. Integral to all of our activities is identifying success stories and good practice examples and sharing these across our networks.
BTEG organised seminars, training and conferences. We provide one to one support and work in partnership or collaborate at every opportunity.
Centre for Educational Success
BTEG has established a centre for educational success to provide a national voice for and support to BME organisations and groups which are working to improve educational outcomes for BME children and young people. The CES is seeking to influence policy makers to achieve improved outcomes for BME children. The CES is working towards promoting education achievement in England by:
Undertaking research on education issues for BME communities;
Contributing to policy development;
Promoting good practice in community education for BME young people;
Facilitating networking and information exchange between community education providers;
Supporting local groups to influence policy and strategy in their local areas.
Centre for Economic Regeneration
Our aim is to undertake research and policy development activities to stimulate new inclusive approaches to regenerate deprived neighbourhoods. To find new ways of encouraging business ideas and business growth and help to tackle skills and employment gaps while working closely with the public and private sectors.
Our focus will be on ensuring Local Area Agreements deliver tangible improvements for BME communities where they are lagging behind the rest of the local population.
Centre for Technical Assistance
It is vital for small third sector organisations to have access to high quality support services. Our experienced technical assistance team delivers training and support to improve the sustainability of organisations so that they are in a stronger position to deliver services in their communities.
Through our organisational assessment tool we are able to identify and then provide bespoke assistance to frontline organisations. Our core areas of support include: business planning, project and financial management, influencing policy development; becoming demand-led organisation and meeting the needs of funders.
