Campaigns
APIL is a campaigning organisation. Our lobbying effort centres around the improvement of health and safety practises, and ensuring that access to justice is not restricted for those injured by negligence.
This is a flavour of our ongoing campaigns. If you would like any more information please contact us.
Accident or Negligence booklet

Press stories about conkers being banned in school playgrounds, health and safety being taken too far, and hanging baskets being removed have created a false impression of the personal injury system.
Confusion often arises about the difference between an accident and negligence, and this is tackled in our ‘Accident or Negligence?’ booklet.

Confusion often arises about the difference between an accident and negligence, and this is tackled in our ‘Accident or Negligence?’ booklet.
The guide aims to help people understand the difference between an accident and negligence and correct common misconceptions about how the law applies when a person has been injured by someone else.
The booklet has received a positive response in many quarters including MPs, councils, play organisations and schools. We hope to distribute it even further to ensure people are aware of their rights and responsibilities.
The Health and Safety Executive has designed a web page, which aims to combat current myths surrounding health and safety. Please follow this link to view this month's myth:

Draft Civil Law Reform Bill
The Government announced in its draft Queen’s Speech 2008 document that there will Draft Civil Law Reform Bill which will deal with the law relating to damages, limitation periods, and claims against insurers by people other than the insured person. This draft bill will be subject to consultation by the Ministry of Justice and also a possible inquiry by a select committee of the House of Commons. APIL will, of course, contribute in detail to both.
Streamlining the claims process
APIL provided a detailed response to the Government’s consultation on streamlining the claims process and the small claims limit. The association awaits the Government response and will campaign for the interests of victims to be at the heart of the claims process.
