Police are investigating the M1 crash
Labour peer Lord Ahmed has spoken of his shock after being involved in a fatal motorway collision on Christmas Day.

The 50-year-old's Jaguar was travelling along the M1 in South Yorkshire when the incident happened.

His car hit a 28-year-old man from Leigh in Greater Manchester, who had earlier been involved in another incident.

The victim's Audi A4 was stationary on the motorway and the Slovakian man and his 30-year-old passenger managed to travel on foot to the hard shoulder.

But when the victim attempted to return to his vehicle he was struck by the Jaguar, police said.

Lord Ahmed himself suffered facial injuries and his wife, 49, and mother, in her 80s, were also hurt.
