MPs have written to Kent police in protest at their use of stop-and-search powers at an environmental demonstration.

The week long climate camp near the Kingsnorth power station has met with what protestors are calling "political policing". The police, for their part, claim some demonstrators arrived with knives.

Now Norman Baker and Colin Challen have written to Kent police force about their methods. Their letter is also signed by Green MEP Caroline Lucas.

Thirty-four people have so far been arrested out of an estimated 1,500.

The campaigners are opposing plans for a coal-fired power station near Hoo.
