Coastal flood warning issued for west coast
A severe weather warning has been issued across the country for Monday.
The Met Office is predicting a severe storm affecting mainly southern and western parts of the British Isles, peaking after the weekend.
Households are warned of a risk of disruption to transport and power supply and are advised to check local weather forecasts and flood warnings.
Winds of up to 60 and 70mph, ranked as severe gales and potentially damaging gusts, are expected over large parts of Britain on Monday, rising to 80mph in exposed areas.
Brian Golding, head of forecasting at the Met Office, said: "The arrival of this exceptionally deep area of low pressure is expected to coincide with spring tides on Monday bringing the risk of flooding to western coasts stretching from southern England to northern Scotland."
The storm warning follows confirmation that last month was the sunniest February since records began.
