Both Gordon Brown and Alistair Campbell revealed their emotional sides this weekend by breaking down on television.
Gordon Brown started crying while discussing the death of his daughter, Jennifer, in 2002.
The episode came during an interview with Piers Morgan, schedule to go on air on Valentine's Day.
Meanwhile, Mr Campbell chose the Andrew Marr Show to allow the emotion to get to him, when the host compared the infamous dodgy dossier to the novel the former spin doctor was promoting.
Asked repeatedly if the prime minister misled parliament, Mr Campbell paused before saying: "Yes, because I said... forgive me for this, I've..."
"I've been through a lot of this Andrew.
"And I've been through a lot of that inquiry... and, er... Tony Blair, I think is a totally honourable man," he continued.
"You did it again this morning, which is probably why I'm a bit upset, this constant sort of vilification. You compared the novel to the dossier, that it was all fiction and all the rest of it. It's not.
"I don't think people are interested in the truth any more."
"I'm sorry if I do get upset about this but I was there alongside Tony, I know how that decision weighed on him, I know the care that we took."
Mr Campbell discussed the moment on his blog a little later, saying: "I could certainly have done without his glib introduction, in which he sought to link the September 2002 WMD dossier with the novel, ie my 'latest piece of fiction'."
