Opik seeking legal advice on ex's claims
Liberal Democrat MP Lembit Opik may sue after claims from his former girlfriend were printed in a Sunday paper.

Sian Lloyd, the ITV weather presenter and Mr Opik's girlfriend between 2002 and 2006, has written a tell-all book which will be published next month.

Speaking to Sky News' Sunday Live yesterday, the MP for Montgomeryshire was asked about the "unflattering stories" from the book, A Funny Kind of Love, previewed in the Mail on Sunday.

Mr Opik responded: "I cannot talk about that because we are taking legal advice about that at the moment, I'm afraid.

"There are some things that may be illegal about that article," he added.

Ms Lloyd has written about her former fiancee's drinking habits, as well as boasts that he would be prime minister one day.

The pair split in 2006 and Mr Opik went on to date Gabriela Irimia from the Cheeky Girls. Ms Lloyd has since married businessman Jonathan Ashman.
