Gordon Brown is to face questions over rental money
Prime minister Gordon Brown is to be quizzed by Westminster's sleaze watchdog over claims he failed to declare rental money.

The move comes after Conservative MP Greg Hands complained Mr Brown had failed to declare more than £1,600 in rental money from his local Labour party.

Mr Hands claims the money was paid for use of the prime minister's office in the Kirkcaldy and Cowdenbeath constituency.

The local party paid £3,321 and it is alleged that Mr Brown did not declare his share in the House of Commons Register of Member's Interests.

Parliamentary standards commissioner John Lyon has subsequently written to Mr Hands and the prime minister.
