The government is expected to announce plans for community cohesion camps where young people from different backgrounds can come together later today.

Children's minister Beverley Hughes is expected to announce the move as part of a package of positive activity programmes, the BBC reported.

In addition to US-style summer camps some will take place from this autumn.

Children attending the programmes will expand their social skills and emotional understanding by addressing issues like knife crime and gang culture.
