The row over Lord Ashcroft is to be investigated by the public administration committee, it emerged today.
The Commons committee is planning on holding a one-off inquiry on Thursday March 18th.
This morning, Labour MP Gordon Prentice wrote on his blog: "The issues fall squarely within the committee's bailiwick.
"We keep an eye on the Cabinet Office and the House of Lords Appointments Commission.
"We shall see what they have to say.
"Oh yes. the committee will invite Lord Ashcroft to come before it."
The officials at the committee itself refused to confirm the news today.
