Gordon Brown has outraged Scots everywhere by expressing pleasure at England's first Test win against Australia at Lord's in 75 years.
The prime minister, inbetween visiting Nissan in Sunderland with Peter Mandelson, carefully followed England's progress as they took the tourists' final five wickets.
"The prime minister has been following the cricket," his spokesman confirmed.
"This was clearly a good win for England today and he looks forward to the rest of the series."
The prime minister had previously been too busy to follow the Test match on a ball-by-ball basis.
But he had been carefully receiving updates about England's progress as they drew the first Test and turned a strong position into a winning one in the second.
The next Test begins a week on Thursday at Edgbaston.
