Iran frees more UK diplomats

Three more British diplomats have been released by Iran, it has been reported.

The Foreign Office confirmed two staff detained in Tehran over the weekend had been released in the last two days.

Iranian media reported a third embassy staffer had been freed today, but these were not confirmed.

"It remains our top priority to get all British Embassy staff released as soon as possible," a Foreign Office spokesperson said.

"We are continuing intensive discussions with the Iranian authorities and our international partners to resolve this issue."

politics.co.uk understands the British diplomats had been arrested under the aegis of the Iranian ministry but London was not aware where they were being held.

All but one of the British embassy staff have now been released.
