Teenager in court over NI police shooting

A 17-year-old youth is due before magistrates today charged with the murder of Constable Stephen Carroll who was shot dead in Northern Ireland earlier this month.
Constable Carroll, 48, was killed as he answered a call for help in County Armagh on March 9th.
The teenager is charged with the police officer's murder plus having a firearm with intent to endanger life and with membership of a proscribed organisation, the Continuity IRA.
The youth, who can't be named for legal reasons, is due to appear before Lisburn magistrates' court later today.
On Monday, a 31-year-old and 27-year-old held by the police in relation to Constable Carroll's death were released. Four other people arrested for questioning remain in custody.
Another four individuals are also still being detained over the murders of British soldiers Patrick Azimkar, 21, and Mark Quinsey, 23. The pair were shot dead two days before PC Carroll at the Massereene Barracks in Antrim.
