Elections to the European Parliament will take place on 4 June 2009. politics.co.uk's European election page brings you the latest news, features, comment and analysis surrounding this year's elections, as well as useful information on the constituencies, parties and candidates involved.

Turnout at the last elections in the 2004 was not exactly huge but with the recent controversy over MPs expenses be fresh in the electorate's mind, the European elections could be used by many to send a message to the mainstream parties. Concerns are also mounting that extremist parties could gain ground at these elections. You may not have paid too much attention to the European elections in the past but this year it just might be worth watching.
