A new video of Ian Tomlinson hitting the pavement has been released, showing the moment his head hit the pavement.

It has been passed from the Guardian, which received it from a member of the public, to the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC), and appears to verify that he offered no resistance before being struck by police.

The video comes as Channel 4 prepares to broadcast footage of the moments leading up to Mr Tomlinson's death tonight, after the IPCC failed to secure an injunction against them.

The third post-mortem on Mr Tomlinson's body will take place today after a request from lawyers representing the policeman being questioned under caution for manslaughter.

The police are facing a barrage of criticism for their handling of the protests, with the entire attitude to policing demonstrations in the UK now under the spotlight.
