Government should take action now on 084 telephone numbers

Tuesday, 16, Dec 2008 12:00

Commenting on the Government’s consultation that considers prohibiting the use of 084 telephone numbers in the NHS, Shadow Health Minister Mike Penning said:

“It is clear that the Government’s promises are not worth the paper they are written on. Labour Ministers have already said that they are against 084 numbers, but, typically, are now holding a consultation rather than taking decisive action. Patients will rightly question the worth of this exercise.

“Ministers should stop dithering and act now to stop patients being overcharged.”
