Fairfood’s Advocacy Department is currently recruiting for the position of:

Sustainability Advocate (Internship) Western Europe (Based in London)

Department

The Advocacy Department's main responsibility is to motivate companies to increase the sustainability of their products, trade and production processes in order to promote global equity and development. Several strategies and forms of leverage can be utilised to help achieve this goal, including engaging in sustainability dialogues with food and beverage companies, e-campaigning and grassroots mobilization of the affected citizenry. This position reports to the Advocacy Manager, based in London.

Function

As a Sustainability Advocate Intern, you will be responsible for helping the Advocacy Manager in motivating food and beverage companies to increase the levels of sustainability and transparency associated with their products. You will research companies that are to be approached and will serve as a key contact with these companies, creating a positive dialogue and generally encouraging them to increase the sustainability of their products.

You are studying at or have graduated from an institute of higher education or a university. You have excellent verbal and written skills and you are able to work independently, but also a team player. It is important that you are diplomatic, but also persistent. What we offer

The position is an unpaid internship offering an opportunity to obtain work experience within a global NGO active in the area of sustainability and to make valuable contacts both in the UK and abroad. The position is versatile and flexible, but at the same time offers a great deal of independence and responsibility. You will have the freedom and opportunity to continue developing yourself and achieve tangible results. Additional benefits include free in-office lunches, reimbursement of public transportation costs to/from the office, the potential to attend sustainable food conferences and travel to meet with food and beverage companies. Working hours are flexible, but a minimum of sixteen hours a week for a period of at least three months is required
