Ofcom's latest consultation on non-BBC public sector broadcasting allows ITV to reduce its regional news services.

The obligation on ITV and other non-BBC broadcasters to produce original British content sustainably have also been relaxed until the expiry date of existing licences in 2014.

It also calls for an extra £144 million in funding for the sector by 2012.

But the consultation did find a strong degree of support among audiences for non-BBC public service broadcasting.
