Straw: Govt will listen

Tuesday, 27, May 2008 12:00

The government will not ignore concerns about road tax, justice minister Jack Straw insists.

"It's already been made clear that in respect of the vehicle excise duty – that's the car tax – this is not due to come into force until next April, and the chancellor and the prime minister have said quite explicitly that we're listening to public concerns," he said on the Today programme.

"If there's going to be decisions announced they could be announced in the autumn statement."
