Shelter: Credit crunch 'overshadowed decisions'

Adam Sampson, chief executive of Shelter, comments on Gordon Brown's first year in power:

"Gordon Brown's commitment to building more affordable homes was politically very brave and entirely sensible.

"It's a shame the credit crunch and subsequent downturn in the housing market have overshadowed what was a strong gut decision."
