Passenger Focus: More information needed

Thursday, 28, Aug 2008 12:00

Passenger representation group Passenger Focus's chief executive Anthony Smith on today's watchdog announcement about engineering work disruption:

"We have been telling the industry for some time that passengers need accurate, timely and coordinated information when engineering works take place.

"Passengers recognise that engineering works are necessary and will tolerate some short-term inconvenience for real long-term gain but the rail industry should do more to inform passengers not only of the engineering works but also the benefits the work will bring.

"It is vital that the rail industry works together at the planning stages to minimise the impact on passengers and ensures that information about any disruptions or alterations is widely distributed before, during and after the work."
