NEA: Pragmatic approach to target needed

National fuel poverty charity National Energy Action (NEA) shares the "dismay" of those challenging the government on its main issue.
Its director of communications, Maria Wardrobe, said it regretted the fact the government's 2010 target of eradicating fuel poverty for all vulnerable households by 2020 is unlikely to be met.
The legally-binding target is the subject of an application for judicial review filed by Friends of the Earth and Help the Aged today, but Ms Wardrobe says the NEA's focus will remain on campaigning for fair social tariffs for low-income households.
She added: "NEA will continue to work with the government to ensure that the [fuel poverty] target, although moving, will be met as soon as is possible."
