NEOST: Children let down by strike

With exams fast approaching many children have been let down by striking teachers, the National Employers' Organisation for School Teachers believes.
Its chairman Ivan Ould said on Tuesday the industrial action by the National Union of Teachers (NUT) was "disappointing for children and parents".
He pointed out many parents would be forced to take days of work to look after their children and said the NUT should have paused for thought "before embarking on action that will affect large swathes of the country".
"The pay award was based on an independent body's recommendation and provides a deal that is both fair to teachers and affordable for the taxpayer," Mr Ould added.
"Councils and schools are working together to ensure that if the strike does happen then the minimum possible disruption will occur to children and parents."
