Lib Dems: Review unnecessary
Tuesday, 11, Dec 2007 12:00
The Children's Plan will not improve education in Britain, Liberal Democrat schools spokesperson David Laws believes.
The ten-year strategic plan is due to be announced to parliament this afternoon and is expected to feature a series of major reforms affecting the lives of British children.
Mr Laws has already condemned the "upheaval" he believes the Children's Plan will cause, dismissing the move as "change for change's sake".
"There is no need for another review of the primary curriculum, and when Ed Balls talks about removing 'clutter' most schools will not know what he means," he said.
"Ed Balls should focus on getting school funding right, sorting out the confusion over the future of the qualifications framework, and giving schools real power to innovate. More reviews and micromanagement cannot be the answer."
