IoD: More regulation could be counter-productive

The Institute of Directors' (IoD) director general, Miles Templeman, welcomed many of the measures contained in today's draft Queen's Speech, but warned the government against over-regulation.
Mr Templeman said his organisation favoured extensions of flexible working and training for employees.
But he opposed changes to agency workers' pay, saying moving the qualification period to anything under six months could be "immensely counter-productive".
On business rate supplements, Mr Templeman said: "The government claims that it is in 'listening mode' yet the representations made by the IoD… have been wholly ignored.
"These government plans are so damaging that an immediate rethink is required."
