Grieve: I understand David's brave stand

Dominic Grieve, the new shadow home secretary, comments on David Davis' resignation as an MP:

"I fully understand David's brave stand and I am honoured to take up this appointment.

"It has been a privilege to work with him in fighting 42 days. I look forward to continuing the party's campaign against 42 days pre-charge detention in parliament, as I have been doing throughout in my role as shadow attorney general."
