Davis: I'm vindicated

Tuesday, 14, Oct 2008 12:00

David Davis, former shadow home secretary, comments on the vote against 42-days on the Today programme:

"[This has] been all about politics, not about security. It has been about trying to give the Labour Party a 'tougher-than-Tory' model in the public mind.

"It has failed miserably and I don't think anybody sensible would revisit it.

"I feel vindicated, because before I resigned it looked like it would go through in a ping-pong."
