Conservatives: Chunnel link report is alarming

Shadow minister for transport Chris Grayling called today’s report on the Channel Tunnel rail link "very alarming".

He said: “The high speed link is one of the government’s few flagship projects and if they can’t get this one right, it begs the question whether they can get other ones right in the future."

Commenting on recent figures showing ministers regularly use the Queen's flight to travel to EU meetings, he added: "Since ministers seem to think it’s better to fly in private jets than take the train to Brussels they are hardly setting an example they want everyone to follow."
