Matthew West is the managing editor of politics.co.uk

Before becoming a journalist Matthew toyed with the idea of becoming a lawyer but the year of law school that followed his history and politics degree at the University of Essex, (or Ethics as a number of Guardian readers will still fondly refer to it) soon put paid to that. So he tried his hand at teaching history with a little politics thrown in for good measure instead. That didn't suit either.

Matthew has been a journalist for six years and has experience of writing for local press and news agencies as well as writing for the business-to-business market where he specialised as a personal finance journalist.

His previous roles have included acting as news editor of IFAonline, a B2B website for the independent financial adviser community, which twice won the prestigious HeadlineMoney personal finance website of the year (trade) award in 2006 and 2007.

If you would like to speak to Matthew with regard to politics.co.uk you can contact him on 0207 517 2268 or via his email address matt.west@politics.co.uk.

Ian Dunt is the editor of politics.co.uk. After studying philosophy at University College London, he spent the next year travelling from London to Lebanon by land.

Before settling on journalism, Ian tried his hand at cattle herding, conducting research for non-governmental organisations, working in bars, door-to-door sales, and as an extra in movies.

A political obsessive, Ian also writes dating columns for lifestyle magazines and the odd historical article. In terms of his politics, Ian still fondly remembers being described as a Daily Mail bile peddler and a Communist agitator all on the same day.

You can contact him on 0207 517 2204 or at ian.dunt@politics.co.uk.

Alex Stevenson is deputy editor of politics.co.uk. After leaving Cambridge University, where he set up a news service at Cambridge University's student radio station, he worked in the House of Commons for the Liberal Democrats, wrote a guide to shooting film locations overseas and put in a stint at the BBC History Unit.

Campaigning for the 2005 Cheadle by-election proved, once and for all, that participating in active politics was far too much like hard work. Journalism beckoned as a result and the last several years have seen Alex's focus shift towards the twists and turns of British party politics from the sidelines. He now specialises in foreign policy and international affairs. He can be contacted on 0207 517 2204 or via his email address alex.stevenson@politics.co.uk.

More generally press relasese should be sent to news@politics.co.uk while if you have a general enquiry please email enquiries@politics.co.uk.
