Sexualisation of children
Monday, 6 June 2011 00:00
David Cameron has today welcomed the conclusions of a review into the commercialisation and sexualisation of children.
The review, which was carried out by Reg Bailey, head of the Mothers' Union, called for changes to the TV watershed, more protection for children from internet pornography and a reduction of on-street advertising which includes sexual images.
The prime minister singled out the importance of getting a website in place which will provide advice to parents on what to do if they feel programmes, advertisements, product or services are inappropriate for their children.
Bailey has been invited to a meeting at Downing Street in October where retailers, advertisers and other interested parties will discuss the progress they have made following the review.
