Protest fall-out

Up to half a million people attended a TUC march against the government's spending cuts in London this weekend, the largest protest in the capital since the 2003 demonstration against the Iraq war.
Labour leader Ed Miliband addressed crowds in Hyde Park, telling demonstrators they came from a long line of protest movements, citing the suffragettes, the civil rights movements in America and the anti-apartheid struggle.
But the peaceful march was marred by scenes of pocketed violence, as members of black-clad anarchist groups attacked businesses in Piccadilly, targeting banks, retailers and the Ritz hotel.
The anti-tax avoidance group UK Uncut staged an occupation of upmarket food retailer Fortnum and Masons.
So far, 201 people have been arrested in connection with the disorder and 149 charged. Of those, 145 were charged with aggravated trespass at Fortnum and Masons.
The police have come under fire for their handling of the splinter groups, with questions raised over the Met's ability to maintain order during the Royal Wedding.
