Police break riot cycle
11/08/11
Police appear to have at least temporarily broken the cycle of rioting and looting which has gripped England for four days.
Heavy rain and a large police presence quelled disorder last night after four evenings of growing civil disobedience.
This gave police forces across the country a chance to focus on making arrests and examining evidence to identify looters.
So far over 1,000 people have been arrested across the country and courts sat through the night in an attempt to deal with the backlog of arrests from the violence.
Met police: Over 100 warrants for riot arrests to work through
West Midlands police: Swift decisive action to deal with rioters thanks to courts
Greater Manchester police: Major investigation into riots is underway
