Gove's mistake
Friday, 9 July 2010 00:00
Michael Gove faces the "cold fury" of MPs after mistakes emerged on the list of school building projects he published.
The education secretary announced on Monday that 700 projects would not go ahead, but the list released contained several inaccuracies, meaning many schools which had been informed their building project would go ahead were then told they would no longer benefit from essential work.
Mr Gove apologised to the Commons on Wednesday and to council leaders on Thursday.
There was wide ranging criticism of the education secretary, with opposition parties and even members of his own Cabinet castigating him for the mistake.
