David Cameron's conference speech

David Cameron has delivered his first speech to the Conservative party conference as prime minister.
He had high praise for Nick Clegg as he justified forming the coalition government, but also plenty of statements to please the Tory grassroots.
The prime minister set his sights on reclaiming the mantra of optimism from Ed Miliband, though he spent much of the speech heralding the impending austerity drive with a relentless assault on Labour's tenure in power.
He also made an impassioned attempt to resurrect his 'big society' idea which left many commentators unmoved during the election campaign.
