Coulson News International payments
24/08/11
The Conservative party is scrambling to defend itself following the disclosure that Andy Coulson received six-figure payments from News International (NI) whilst at Conservative party HQ.
When asked whether he had any other income whilst in his role as head of communications Mr Coulson stated that he did not, although he had previously mentioned his severance package with NI.
The Conservatives have consistently denied he was paid by anyone else.
However it has emerged that Mr Coulson received severance payments in 2007 following his departure from the News of the World over phone-hacking and during his first year working for David Cameron.
He also continued to enjoy the benefits of a News International company car and health insurance up until 2010.
