Brakes on motor insurance costs
12/01/2011
MPs are calling for action to be taken to tackle the high costs of motor insurance.
The Commons' transport committee wants the insurance industry to take action against claims for whiplash, where diagnoses are often subjective.
Clamping down on these claims is essential, they argue. MPs want ministers to take action to require objective evidence of an injury if the number of whiplash claims does not fall.
The insurance industry seems to be supportive of this proposal - but it remains to be seen whether cold-calling of motorists in a bid to secure high numbers of claims will diminish.
