Inequality among working-age people in the UK is rising faster than other developed nations, an OECD report has shown.
The pay difference between the top and bottom ten per cent is up by a ratio of eight to one in 1985 to 12 to one now.
The average income gap in developed countries is nine to one.
Even countries considered more equal than the UK, such as Germany or Sweden, are seeing gaps between rich and poor grow larger.
In developing countries, such as Russia and India, the ratio is even more pronounced, at an average ratio of 50 to one.
