Shadow health secretary Andy Burnham comments on proposals to include patient surveys in the NHS' 'outcomes framework':

"Doctors and nurses will roll their eyes in sheer disbelief at this news.

"The government that promised to scrap NHS targets now loads 60 new targets on an NHS already under severe pressure.

"It will add red tape and bureaucracy just as the NHS is struggling to cope with the financial challenge and the biggest reorganisation in its history."

When our Prime Minister was elected to his position he stated very clearly that his Government would be one that is transparent, open, and accountable to the people of this country. The report on the 9th September by the Sunday Mail Medical Correspondent Jo Macfarlane titled “Complaints culture is bleeding schools and hospitals dry” made very interesting reading from the point of view of MRSA Action UK. The report centred on the fact that a report produced by the think tank “Centre for policy studies” has shown it says how litigation against public bodies such as the NHS is “ingrained in the national psyche as a warped form of normal behaviour”.
